Job Summary:
The Malaria Program Lead will oversee and coordinate the entire malaria workstream including proposal development and securing funding for the malaria prevention, control, and treatment programs. This role involves strategic planning, securing funds, grant writing, strategic partnerships and high government engagement program management, research, and stakeholder engagement to reduce malaria incidence and improve health outcomes in target populations.
The Malaria Lead will work closely with government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), healthcare providers, and the community to implement evidence-based interventions and monitor their effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Management:
§ Develop and implement comprehensive malaria control and prevention strategies.
§ Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of malaria programs and projects.
§ Ensure programs are aligned with national and international malaria control guidelines and policies.
2. Research and Data Analysis:
§ Conduct and oversee research on malaria epidemiology, intervention effectiveness, and emerging challenges.
§ Analyze data to assess program impact, identify trends, and inform decision-making.
§ Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
3. Stakeholder Engagement:
§ Collaborate with government health departments, NGOs, international organizations, and community groups.
§ Facilitate partnerships and coordinate activities to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
§ Advocate for policies and resources to support malaria control efforts.
4. Training and Capacity Building:
§ Develop training materials and conduct workshops for healthcare providers and community health workers.
§ Build local capacity to sustain malaria control initiatives through education and technical support.
5. Monitoring and Evaluation:
§ Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track program performance and outcomes.
§ Conduct regular field visits to ensure program fidelity and quality.
§ Prepare reports and disseminate results to stakeholders.
6. Resource Management:
§ Manage budgets and ensure the efficient use of resources.
§ Prepare grant proposals and secure funding for malaria initiatives.
§ Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Qualifications:
§ Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, Parasitology, or a related field.
§ Minimum of 10 years of experience in malaria control and prevention, public health
§ Proven track record in program management and implementation, particularly in resource-limited settings.
§ Experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
§ Strong understanding of malaria epidemiology, prevention, treatment, and control strategies.
§ Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
§ Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
§ Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., statistical software, GIS, project management tools).
§ Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
§ PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Parasitology, or a related field.
§ Experience working with international health organizations or in global health contexts.
§ Familiarity with WHO guidelines and national malaria control programs.
§ Experience in grant writing and securing funding.
