Job Description

Sydani is seeking an experienced Global Health Security (GHS) consultant to lead initiatives centered on strengthening health systems. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of epidemic preparedness, health surveillance, and One Health approaches to deliver high-impact technical assistance at national and sub-national levels.


Job Responsibilities

  1. Lead the design and implementation of epidemic preparedness and response strategies, including development of preparedness plans, simulation exercises, and operational frameworks for ongoing and pipeline projects.
  2. Strengthen health surveillance systems by supporting the design, implementation, and evaluation of integrated disease surveillance and response (IDSR) frameworks.
  3. Conduct capacity assessments, gap analyses, and technical reviews to inform programmatic priorities and resource allocation.
  4. Support stakeholder engagement with government agencies, regional bodies, and international partners.
  5. Contribute to knowledge management by producing high-quality reports, briefs, and tools.
  6. Represent the organization at technical working groups, workshops, and inter-agency forums.


Job Qualifications

  1. A Master’s degree or equivalent in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in global health security, infectious disease preparedness, or health systems strengthening.
  3. Demonstrated experience working in low- and middle-income country (LMIC) contexts.
  4. Strong technical knowledge of epidemic preparedness and response frameworks, including WHO’s International Health Regulations (IHR) and the Africa CDC’s frameworks.
  5. Practical experience with health surveillance systems, including IDSR, event-based surveillance, or digital health tools.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable insights and policy recommendations
  7. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and deliver high-quality outputs within tight timelines
