Business Development Officer.  



Role Summary: The Business Development Officer will be responsible for identifying business growth opportunities and developing strategies to increase company output and achieve company-set goals.

Role description 

The role requires that the business development officer has strong business acumen as well as demonstrates excellent management, communication, and analytical skills. You will be expected to bring in clients, identify and develop business opportunities, and provide technical direction in increasing the company’s bottom line. We are looking for a forward-looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes viable and impactful solutions. 


Responsibilities 

  1. Conduct research on international and local websites and databases to support data analysis and proposal report development
  2. Prepare project feasibility plans, and perform go-or-no-go evaluations for RFP/RFQs
  3. Coordinate approvals for RFP response with senior management
  4. Support preparation of draft proposal documents
  5. Coordinate/drive timely proposal responses working with programs/project leads and relevant SMEs
  6. Support quality assurance activities for proposal response
  7. Monitor subscriptions on opportunity databases and communicate potential opportunities to BD Lead/Senior Management
  8. Track macro and micro trends on international development in key countries (East Africa, West Africa)


Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies 

  1. Bachelor's degree (first-class or second-class upper) in business management or administration, finance, accounting, marketing, or a related field is essential. A master’s degree in any of the above fields is desirable.
  2. Completion of National Youth Service with a Minimum of 2 years of progressive working experience
  3. Proficient in MS Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). 
  4. Able to utilize advanced search tools and databases
  5. Fluent in English; written and spoken
  6. Knowledgeable on macro trends in the international development space
  7. Able to manage multiple priorities effectively
  8. Able to work independently and/or as a part of a large team 
  9. Focused and have a demonstrated ability to successfully execute business strategies
  10. Results-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment
