Position: Pedagogy expert
Reports to: Project Manager
Job type: 6 months, approximately 20 hours weekly
Location: Enugu, Oyo, FCT, Kano, Taraba, Akwa Ibom
Role description
The Pedagogy Expert/Trainer will deliver high-quality training to pre-service teachers, focusing on innovative teaching pedagogies and effective curriculum planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, extensive teaching experience, and the ability to utilise technology to enhance learning. Candidates will also be expected to attend a 2-3 week intensive training prior to resumption.
Job Responsibilities
Training Delivery:
- Prepare and develop comprehensive resource materials for the training sessions.
- Deliver 16 weeks of training sessions, minimum 6 hours per week, covering Micro-teaching, Jigsaw, Problem-based Learning, and TPSACK models.
Assessment and Feedback:
- Conduct baseline and post-training assessments of pre-service teachers.
- Mark assignments promptly, providing detailed written and verbal feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments and assignments throughout the training period.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Record the work of pre-service teachers through pictures and videos.
- Assist the research, monitoring, and evaluation team by disseminating information and instructions.
- Report accurately and regularly to the Project Manager.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Liaise with placement schools to arrange visits and lesson observations.
- Ensure excellent attendance and punctuality for all training sessions.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGD).
- A Masters or Ph.D in Education is a significant advantage
Professional Experience:
- At least 15 years of teaching experience (with at least 5 years at Basic education level)
- Extensive experience in two or more of Micro-teaching, Jigsaw, Problem-based Learning, and TPSACK models.
- Experience teaching pre-service teachers at NCE, or B.Ed. level will be an advantage
- Proven track record of personal professional development and growth.
- Previous experience in curriculum design, planning and development.
- Registered member of the Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) with a proof of evidence.
- Fluent in English and any of the following indigenous languages: Yoruba, Efik/Ibibio, Igbo, Koro/Nupe, Mumuye or Hausa language is compulsory
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in collaborative teaching methods.
- Proficiency in using technology, Android device, Computer, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
