Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data mining or extracting usable data from valuable data sources
  2. Use machine learning tools to select features, create and optimize classifiers
  3. Carry out pre-processing of structured and unstructured data
  4. Enhance data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems
  5. Presenting information using data visualization techniques
  6. Process, cleansing, and validating the integrity of data to be used for analysis
  7. Analyze complex datasets using advanced statistical methods Develop and design appropriate research methodology for projects
  8. Present results in a professional and statistically acceptable standards


Requirements:

  1. Minimum four years of experience as a Biostatistician, Statistician, Data Scientist or Data Analyst
  2. Experience in analyzing survey datasets such as NDHS, MICS, IPUMS, etc.
  3. Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
  4. Knowledge of SPSS, STATA, R, SQL, Power BI and Python. Most preferably STATA and R software. Familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
  5. Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop)
  6. Skillful in report writing with at least three (3) publications in peer- reviewed journals as evidence 
  7. Proficiency in making presentations
  8. MSc., BSc., in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
  9. MSc in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or another quantitative field is preferred
  10. Analytical mindset and research experience
  11. Strong Mathematics, Econometrics and Modelling skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)
  12. Problem-solving aptitude


Basic Skills:

  1. Strong Mathematical modelling expertise
  2. Strong Statistical and Spatial Analysis
  3. Ability to interpret data analyses.
  4. Experienced with high - level research and publications in peer reviewed journals
  5. Skillful in using any of the software: R, STATA, SPSS, Python, Machine Learning
